Why I Don’t Have Nutritional Information
People have asked me why I don't include nutritional information on my website.
And honestly? When I first started working on Thyme & Flame, I thought I would include it too.
But as I started planning my recipes, I realized it just didn't make much sense for the way I cook.
There are so many variations and different plates at our table. One person might have steak, another a vegetarian option, and someone else might need a gluten-free and dairy-free version. Then everyone adds different toppings or sides.
So who exactly would the nutritional information be for?
But there's another reason I decided not to include it.
I don't want calories to be the focus of my food.
For me, food is meant to be enjoyed. I want to sit down at the table, enjoy what I'm eating, and not feel guilty because I had a piece of bread or a little extra pasta.
I try to use fresh ingredients, eat plenty of vegetables, and keep things balanced. I want to enjoy a variety of foods without stressing over every number on my plate.
Of course, everyone is different, and some people need nutritional information for health or dietary reasons. I completely understand that.
But that's not what I want Thyme & Flame to be about.
I remember when restaurants first started adding calorie information to their menus. I hated it!
Just let me order my pasta or pizza without telling me exactly how many calories I'm about to consume.
It's pasta! It's pizza! I know it's not a salad.
So my solution was usually to order a salad, too, eat half of the pasta or pizza, and save the rest for the next day.
And honestly, that's pretty much how I approach food in my everyday life. I try to find a balance that works for me, enjoy what I'm eating, and not overthink every bite.
That's the philosophy I want to bring to Thyme & Flame.
This isn't a place where I want you to feel guilty about what you're eating. It's a place where I want you to find recipes that work for your family, sit down together, and actually enjoy dinner.
Because food is more than numbers.
It's memories. It's family. It's sitting around the table. It's making a meal work for everyone.
So yes, you won't find nutritional information on my recipes.
And that's intentional.
Live life. Enjoy your food. And pass the pasta.
